  • What Does Silane Do?

Why do you need to use a porcelain primer when cementing a porcelain crown?  The answer is that cements and composites adhere poorly to porcelain—the surface is just too low in energy to obtain a decent bond.  Our primer chemically couples to the porcelain surface making it receptive to bonding materials.  One side of the primer molecule adheres to the surface and the other reactive monomer side of the molecule reacts with the resin cement or composite. The success of this reaction depends on fully active primer that has not been compromised by oxygen or light. We protect our primer in a hermetically sealed, inert atmosphere unit-dose ampule giving you the most pure and fully reactive primer available.
