| Open DuraShield unit dose and blend varnish to a unified color before application. Prophylaxis is not necessary prior to fluoride varnish application. |
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or lip balm to patient’s lip. Dry tooth area to be treated - drying should not be excessive as varnish sets with intraoral moisture. |
Apply thin layer of DuraShield (0.5mm thick) to all tooth surfaces, including molars (inset). Continue until all teeth are treated. Use Dental floss to ensure varnish reaches interproximal areas. |
Children may drink water immediately after procedure. Advise patient to choose foods that are soft and not to brush until the next morning to allow longest fluoride exposure. |
